26th September 2013
Two Japanese film producers are in Tanzania for a three-year contract to produce a film on Tanzania tourist attractions in a move to promote the East African nation’s resources.

The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) managing director Dr Aloyce Nzuki told The Guardian on Tuesday that the experts from Japan based company- Bridgearth Corporation are currently conducting video shooting in different national parks from which they are going to make films.

He said Tanzania Natural Resource Activation Project (TANAREAP) and TTB launched production of the film on Saturday that will provide training on animal life and promote Tanzania tourism potentials within the country and overseas.

The launch was held at Makumbusho National Museum by the TTB Managing Director Dr Aloyce Nzuki on behalf of TANAREAP.

TTB and TANAREAP decided to embark on the project on order to illustrate the tourist attractions that the country has and educate people on animals life after it was identified that majority of people are not familiar with fauna life.

Besides, the film is meant to educate people on the benefits animals have, how to protect them and make people in other parts of the world know the riches that the country has.

“These experts have been conducting video shooting, taking photographs and making a film at Tarangire National Park, Manyara National Park, Selous Game Reserve, Mikumi National Park, Ruaha National Park, Katavi National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park in a move to promote the east African second largest economy,” he said.

According to Nzuki, a total of 16,000 DVDs that illustrate Tanzania’s tourist attractions have been produced, and at the moment they are scouting for agents to distribute them in various parts of the world.

The DVDs will be selling at the retail price of USD20 per piece and will be available at TTB, he said, noting that obtained funds from the project would be channelled to TANAREAP to support conservation and anti-poaching activities.

According to Dr Nzuki, TANAREAP was established by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism in partnership with Bridgearth Corporation 2011 to protect the country’s nature by means of video footage and photographic images of the country’s tourist attractions.

“As TTB in collaboration with TANAREAP our focus was just to train people on animals life, assist children perceive it and understand animals life so that in future we can get specialised experts on animals’ life and even attract more visitors to Tanzania,” he said.

Highlighting on how they will train staff from the ministry, he said, during implementation, the experts would be trained on video film shooting or footage, editing, photographic images and how to produce films.

To start with, four staff from Tanzania national parks, Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), Forestry and Beekeeping Division have been trained to do video film recording, how to take photographs of Tanzania nature and edit.
The produced film will be sold in different parts of the world and can also be available on WWW.tanareap.com.
