THE HIDDEN OF MTWARA




Tanzania is so affluent in sightseeing attractions that some suffer from the fate of going unnoticed.  One of the destination in Mtwara on the southern circuit, located on the southern Tanzania.
Mtwara has so much to offer in terms of cultural assets, historical facts, and marvelous landscape from the interland to the palm the fringed beaches along the India Ocean, that every tourist would wonder why he or she had not been there much earlier.
THE SITE HAS A HISTORY BACK
  
Back to the German colonial periods, remarkably, is the old prison which was built on the 1880s and is now partly on ruins (remains).  After the ww I, the structure was used by the British customs office, post office and police station.

Menu is the Msimbati offering a variety of activities including motor vehicle driving on its beach. Home to Mnazi Marine Park which is a paradise for water sports lovers.



Flora and fauna are assured of game viewing thrills in Africa’s biggest trans-boundary game reserve, the Selous, which crosses the Ruvuma River into Msumbiji.

Seventy kilometer from Mtwara town lays a spring fresh water lake, Kitele which has unique features are not fed by any river or valley.



Mtwara is the spot that over time attracted so many visitors into settlement leading to the establishment of special Swahili coast culture spiced by the world famous Makonde carvings, named after the superb and unique artistic wood carvers of the Makonde tribe.

 Hotels resort and lodges in Mtwara are bound to increase as the Mtwara corridor area opens for economic growth like construction of Nachigwea railway line. This is on top of the existing access by roads, water and by air.
